A beautiful writing page

Simplicity is important – so is an aesthetic. We’ve thought deeply about how to make the writing page as simple, clean and pleasant a place to write as possible. It might not seem like it, especially when you’re in Focus Mode with nothing but the words, but we have. We chose the font carefully, we chose the colours carefully.

There’s not much more to say than that really, so I’ll leave you with some quotes about simplicity and beauty:

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” ~ Leonardo da Vinci

“Simplicity is the glory of expression.” ~ Walt Whitman

“Good design keeps the user happy, the manufacturer in the black and the aesthete unoffended.” ~ Raymond Loewy Whitman

Email suggestion from Mary: one thing I have always wanted is to type my book onto a page with a book-like format, by which I mean the page I am looking at resembles an actual book. That way, when I’m reading through my manuscript I can get a feel for what it would be like in print.

Support from @NANMANME on twitter for page numbers. “Love your beta service so far, but one question. Are you planning on incorporating page numbers anytime soon? That’d be ideal!”

Agree with the “book-like” format so you can see what your text looks like in an actual book (a standard book format is a good start and perhaps eventually the abiliyt to toggle between different book sizes and formats (kindle-reader/large size books/etc)
