The driving force behind a character's actions or a writer's desire to create.

Finding Your Inner Drive: Exploring Motivation in Creative Writing

As a writer, motivation is everything. It's what drives us to put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, and create a story that can make a difference in the world.

But what exactly is motivation? At its core, motivation is the driving force behind a character's actions or a writer's desire to create. It's the spark that sets the story in motion and keeps it moving forward, even when the going gets tough.

There are many types of motivation, including internal and external, and positive and negative types of motivation. Internal motivation comes from within a character, whereas external motivation comes from outside factors. Positive motivation encourages characters to take action, while negative motivation is the fear or threat of consequences if they don't.

As a writer, it's important to understand the motivations of your characters in order to create compelling stories. By exploring your characters' inner drives and motivations, you can create more fully realized and dynamic characters. And by understanding your own motivations as a writer, you can tap into your creative potential and find the drive to keep writing, even when you don't feel like it.
